Gertrude Reif Hughes
Author of Emerson's Demanding Optimism and of essays on the social imagination of American Women  poets. She is professor of English and Women's Studies at Wesleyan University (Connecticut). She came to Barfield's work through her interest in Romanticism and the work of Rudolf Steiner. She participated in the Owen Barfield Centenary.
