Pat Murphy, who lives
in San Francisco, began publishing in the early eighties. Her second novel,
The
Falling Woman, won the Nebula Award for novel in the same year (1987)
that her Rachel in Love won it for novella. Points of Departure
(1990),
a collection of short fiction, won the Philip K. Dick Award. Her most recent
novel is The City, Not Long After
