Brewster, Ann Nirdlinger (The Man Who Wasn’t There). The heiress wife of loud, boisterous “Big Dave” Brewster. Ann’s family owns the Nirdlinger’s department store in Santa Rosa, California in 1949. Ann’s husband, Big Dave, is the boss at Nirdlinger’s and hoping to soon start his own business. Unknown to Ann, Big Dave is having an affair with his bookkeeper Doris. Big Dave is unanimously blackmailed by Ed Crane (the husband of Doris) to give him $10,000. After Big Dave pays Ed money, he is murdered by Ed stabbing him in the side of his throat. After Big Dave’s murder, Ann visits Ed to tell him that she believes the government murdered Big Dave because she and him reported that they had been abducted by aliens whine in Eugene, Oregon.
