Emory University Professor of Theology (later at SUNY Stony Brook, where he would introduce  Barfield to Tom Kranidas), one of the chief figures in the "death of God" movement of the 1960s. He favorably reviewed Saving the Appearances and Worlds Apart in The Journal of Bible and Religion.
